Local Village Network says people are five times more likely to get a job with networks

The WCIT Charity is delighted to be supporting Local Village Network in 2021/2022 through its Better Together fundraising initiative.

Local Village Network exists to tackle ‘network poverty’, one of the biggest barriers to social mobility. They want to ensure that every young person has access to positive networks and an equal chance to reach their full potential – they do this primarily through their successful digital youth app.

The app provides an online digital directory designed to enable parents, frontline professionals and young people to find engagement and employment opportunities. It also connects young people to professionals through the Power of an Hour volunteering platform.

The grant was made possible by the combined donations of £512 (a nod to 512-bit computing) from participating members who then chose the charity they wished to support. Local Village Network, which WCIT members have provided pro bono support to in the past, will receive £12,000 towards creating a new function on their digital youth hub app to encourage greater participation.
