Members raise money with walking challenge

4 May 2022

A screen shot of participant's progress

In celebration of the coming of spring, the WCIT Charity organised a virtual race from Information Technologists’ Hall all the way to the far reaches of northern Scotland. Participants were able to automatically submit distances travelled using the handy My Virtual Mission phone app for the Spring Forward Challenge. Over the course of a month, members headed north and travelled all the way from London to north-west England on foot, covering an impressive 2522 miles between them!

Congratulations to our own Charity Coordinator Lindsay for taking the virtual yellow jersey, and to Freeman Dan Johnson for posting the furthest distance of all the members participating, clocking up a massive 252 miles. A token of his victory will be with him soon!

The event raised over £300 for the WCIT Charity, enabling it to continue its great work in supporting other organisations with IT-related grants. Thanks go to Matt Eglin, Gus Machado and Serena Chaudry for organising the event.
