Major grants

Thames Reach

Thames Reach is one of the UK’s leading homelessness charities. For a number of years, the WCIT Charity has helped and funded Thames Reach’s new Digital Pathways project. The project assists vulnerable people at risk of homelessness to access one-to-one IT support and to secure an IT qualification.

Gresham College

The WCIT Charity funds the Information Technology Professorship within Gresham College, a subject that previously did not exist within its curriculum. Professor Richard Harvey currently holds that post and delivers a series of informative lectures on matters of interest within the sphere of IT to a broad section of the public.

The WCIT Charity IT Award

In 2018, two charities, CALM (Campaign against Living Miserably) and Missing People, jointly won the WCIT Charity IT Award, each receiving a grant of £300,000. Both charities faced the problem of rising call and online chat volumes with insufficient human resources to service all these contacts. They are both now using the funding from WCIT Charity to make innovative use of chatbots, supported by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, to prioritise these calls and increase the number of enquiries handled successfully.
